Overview

An Amplience retainer is an ongoing Care engagement for a prioritized backlog of Amplience development and maintenance. AmpliFabrik supports commerce brands and integrators in the US and Canada, including teams taking over an implementation after support stalls. We review your setup, identify gaps, and agree the work, capacity, and responsibilities. The backlog can cover Amplience CMS (Dynamic Content), Amplience DAM (Content Hub), Dynamic Media, integrations, and editorial tools. A health check can help establish priorities before a retainer starts. We plan changes with your team and agree acceptance criteria and release dependencies. The role mix, working overlap, planning cadence, and fees are set in the engagement agreement. Your team retains business priorities and production approvals. For white-label work, the integrator owns the client relationship and controls introductions; AmpliFabrik stays unnamed unless invited, with ongoing support routed through the partner. We are an Amplience Partner Program member, operated by Senior Maple Marketing Ltd. in Saint John, New Brunswick. The retainer places continuing work in your delivery calendar, with progress and open decisions recorded for review.

Key facts

An Amplience CMS content type must be synchronized after its schema changes. Published content can still be consumed under the previous schema; editing and republishing it may require updates to storefront code. Changes to property names, types, or validation can also affect existing content in the editor.
Amplience CMS can reuse a registered content field extension across content type schemas. If that extension is deleted, Amplience instructs teams to remove its references from those schemas and synchronize the schemas again.
Dynamic Media transformation templates apply shared image parameters through a named URL reference. Template changes must be republished; Amplience recommends testing the parameters first because saving a template does not check its syntax.
Amplience CMS stores specific content versions in editions. Editing an item does not automatically update those versions: authors can push changes to unlocked instances, while scheduled editions must first be unscheduled.

What an AmpliFabrik Amplience managed retainer engagement covers

Continuous feature delivery

We develop agreed features for your Amplience implementation, including content types, editorial workflows, integrations, CMS extensions, and Dynamic Media templates. Planning defines acceptance checks, dependencies, and release approval for your team to review each change.
Common use cases: Content types for launches, editorial workflow changes, downstream integrations, CMS extensions for authoring tools, Dynamic Media templates for product and category pages, preview updates, and scheduled publishing improvements.

Content model evolution

We refine content models as your publishing needs change. Work can cover JSON Schema, slots, reusable components, hierarchies, and localization. We check effects on existing content and storefront rendering, then plan any data migration and publishing steps needed for the change.
Common use cases: Schema changes for new content patterns, slots refined after editorial feedback, reusable component updates, hierarchy changes, locale additions, validation adjustments, and planned data migration when property names or structures change across existing content.

Integration extension and maintenance

We build and maintain your Amplience integrations with commerce systems, search, automation, and storefront code. Scope can include commercetools, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or BigCommerce connections. We agree system owners, access, error handling, and checks across each integration.
Common use cases: Commerce API updates, search integration changes, webhook handlers, retry and error handling, downstream automation, TypeScript or Node.js integration work, and Amplience content delivery updates in Next.js or React storefronts.

Performance optimization and Core Web Vitals tuning

We investigate storefront performance against agreed baselines. Work can include Dynamic Media delivery, image loading, caching, integration latency, and front-end behavior. We validate changes against the affected pages and devices, with account or vendor settings reviewed through the appropriate owner.
Common use cases: Largest Contentful Paint improvements, Interaction to Next Paint analysis, layout shift fixes, Dynamic Media template checks, cache behavior review, integration latency review, and performance comparisons for product and category pages.

CMS extensions and editorial productivity improvements

We build and maintain CMS extensions for the way your editors work. Scope can include field controls, integration panels, and preview helpers, with permissions and schema references reviewed. Workforce Flows can also support editorial tasks where appropriate, with human review and brand rules included in the workflow design.
Common use cases: Custom field controls, content editor extensions, integration panels, preview helpers, locale tools, content validation, and Workforce Flows with human review for editorial assistance. Hosting and maintenance are included in scoping.

Multi-brand and multi-market expansion work

We extend existing Amplience implementations for more brands, markets, and locales. Work can cover shared content models, brand variants, localization, and editorial access. We agree rollout dependencies and checks with your team; content owners approve regional requirements and copy.
Common use cases: New market launches, brand variants, locale additions, regional editorial setup, shared content model changes, and publishing plans. Your team supplies market requirements and approves the content for launch.
Plan an Amplience Managed Retainer

What AmpliFabrik delivers

An Amplience managed retainer brings together an agreed allocation of expertise, progress reporting, backlog planning, and maintained implementation context. We document these deliverables around your workload and internal team. The agreement defines capacity, scope, review timing, and how changes are approved as priorities evolve.
01

01 - Agreed Amplience capacity and role mix

The engagement plan records the allocation of work, required roles, and responsibilities. We match these to the backlog and your internal capabilities, then confirm access and working arrangements. Capacity or staffing changes follow the agreed review and notice terms, with handover notes for the work affected.
02

02 - Clear sprint and program progress reports

Reports show completed work, capacity used, upcoming priorities, risks, and decisions needed from your team. We agree the reporting format and review cadence at the start. Acceptance evidence and delivery notes sit alongside the backlog, so stakeholders can review what changed and what remains open.
03

03 - Backlog planning as priorities change

We review priorities with your team at each planning cycle. Requests are assessed against the agreed scope, available capacity, and dependencies. When a change affects timing, effort, or fees, we record the impact and seek the required approval before committing work to the delivery plan.
04

04 - Maintained context and handovers

Content model decisions, integration notes, code reviews, and runbooks form the delivery record. We update that context as work changes so your team can understand the implementation and support future releases. If roles or staffing change, the handover identifies current work, open risks, access needs, and the next decisions for the incoming owner.
Talk to AmpliFabrik About Managed Retainers

Frequently asked questions

What is an Amplience managed retainer and how does it work?

An Amplience managed retainer is an ongoing Care engagement for agreed development and maintenance work. We review your implementation and backlog, then set the scope, capacity, role mix, and planning arrangements in the agreement. Your team prioritizes requests and approves completed work. Reports record progress, capacity use, risks, and decisions. It can support an inherited implementation after an integrator exits, with a health check used to identify the first priorities and access needs.

What is the minimum commitment for a managed retainer?

The minimum commitment is set in your proposal and agreement. We review workload, onboarding, and delivery responsibilities before proposing a term. Renewal, review points, notice periods, capacity changes, and exit arrangements are documented there. Your team can assess the commitment and handover requirements before the engagement begins.

How is managed retainer pricing structured?

Pricing follows the agreed workload, role mix, capacity, and working arrangements. Scoping considers your implementation, access, dependencies, and the maintenance or development needed. Your proposal records the charging basis, what is included, and how additional work is approved. Emergency coverage and its effect on fees or planned capacity require separate agreement.

How does a retainer work alongside our internal team?

Your team keeps business priorities, product decisions, and release approvals. We contribute to the agreed Amplience work, with planning, code review, and handover arrangements matched to your processes. Shared records show dependencies and open decisions. For white-label delivery, the integrator owns the client relationship and controls introductions. AmpliFabrik remains unnamed unless invited, and ongoing support stays through the partner.

Can we change what the retainer team works on between sprints?

Yes. We review priorities at each planning cycle within the agreed scope and capacity. We assess requests for effort, dependencies, and their effect on work already planned. A backlog adjustment may fit the allocation; a new market launch or integration may need a scope or capacity review. We document any effect on timing or fees and obtain the required approval before committing the change. Your team remains responsible for business priorities.

Can a managed retainer include emergency response cover?

Emergency Support can be scoped alongside a managed retainer, subject to confirmed availability and agreement. Coverage hours, response terms, escalation, approvals, and charges are documented separately. The agreement also defines whether incident work affects retainer capacity. Round-the-clock coverage or the same staff for both services requires explicit agreement.

What happens if our workload reduces and we no longer need the full retainer capacity?

We review the changed workload and discuss the capacity or engagement format that fits it. A smaller allocation or a scoped Platform Support arrangement may fit. Any change follows the agreed notice, commercial, and transition terms. We identify work to finish or hand over, update responsibilities, and record access and support arrangements before the transition.

How is a managed retainer different from Amplience implementation services?

An implementation project has defined delivery goals, such as a launch, integration, or substantial platform change. A managed retainer supports a continuing backlog of maintenance and development in an existing implementation. It can begin after another integrator built the platform or when your internal team needs ongoing Amplience expertise. We review access, documentation, and open issues before agreeing how the retainer will work.
